About the Apple Pie
The Apple Pie Eating House and Bakery is a family business established in 1978. David bought an old garage and repairs shop tucked beside the Old Bridge House in Ambleside. He had the vision of selling his own baked goodies in a café, so he left his job in the test bakery of Warburton’s in Bolton and set about converting it. Over the years the kettles were replaced and dishwasher were bought and the expansion continued. Now 35 years on we have over 30 staff and several seating areas and a modern bakery on two floors above the café. We are delighted to have a longstanding core of year round staff in both the bakery and shop.
We pride ourselves on the quality of not just our baking but also the delicious espresso style coffees and quirky teapigs teas as well as fantastic Lakeland breakfast tea. ‘Rooms’ is our new venture and we are very excited about it.
